DIY / Simple Washi Ballpoint Pens

Untitled-2These Washi Tape Decorative pens have been a DIY that I have been attempting to do for a while now. I decided to go to the local target and pick up a few of the BIC Crystal Pens. I also grabbed a few different Washi Tapes and those are all the supplies needed! The steps are super simple and easy to do.

1) The finished pens will look a little something like this. 2) Pull out the actual ink and pen nib section of your pen. This should come out extremely easy. 3) Using your favorite Washi Tape, wrap your pen in small section. Do not attempt to wrap the complete pen at once as the washi will bubble as you move it higher. 4) This is my 4th section of washi tape added. he width of the tape will determine how many times you will need to stop and start the tape. 5) Insert the freshly wrapped inside back into the pen. 6) The pen now has a pretty personalized touch that could go with any office or desk decor.

What a great idea! They would also make great personalized gifts at a very affordable price.
Have you tried wrapping it lengthwise? So that the length of the tape matches the length of the ink portion instead of the width and cutting/tearing each piece?

I actually have but I found that the washi is transparent when you do this and the color is not as vivid. I typically do about 5 wraps so the color really pops amond layers. Its comparable to transparent nail polish. More layers = Opaque color!
      Thanks, Drew
